Terms of Service

1. What GammaLedger Provides

GammaLedger is a local-first, self-directed options trade journal and analytics tool. It helps users import, enter, organize, calculate, visualize, and review trading records. GammaLedger is not a broker, exchange, custodian, investment adviser, tax adviser, legal adviser, accounting firm, or financial institution.

The Services do not execute trades, route orders, custody assets, manage accounts, provide personalized investment advice, or make suitability determinations. All trading decisions are made solely by you through your own brokerage or other financial service provider.

2. Eligibility

The Services are intended only for adults who can form legally binding contracts and who understand the risks of options and securities trading. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and are not prohibited from using the Services under applicable law, sanctions, exchange rules, broker rules, or other restrictions.

You are responsible for determining whether the Services are appropriate and lawful for your jurisdiction, trading permissions, account type, investment objectives, financial condition, tax status, and risk tolerance.

3. Open Source License & Project Materials

The GammaLedger software is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPLv3), except for materials expressly licensed otherwise. Your rights to copy, modify, distribute, run, or host covered source code are governed by the AGPLv3. These Terms do not limit rights granted by the AGPLv3.

Brand names, logos, website content, screenshots, documentation, and other non-code assets may be protected by trademark, copyright, and other laws. Unless a separate written license says otherwise, you may not use GammaLedger names, logos, or branding in a way that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, affiliation, or official status.

Commercial, proprietary, institutional, or hosted use outside AGPLv3 obligations may require a separate written commercial license. No commercial license, support obligation, service-level commitment, indemnity, or warranty is granted unless expressly agreed in writing.

4. No Financial, Legal, Tax, or Professional Advice

The Services are provided for informational, educational, record-keeping, and analytical purposes only. Outputs may include calculations, labels, charts, metrics, AI-generated commentary, risk indicators, strategy names, trade groupings, or other analytics, but those outputs are not recommendations, solicitations, research reports, fiduciary advice, investment advice, tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, or an offer to buy or sell any security, option, derivative, or other financial instrument.

5. AI Features and Automated Analysis

GammaLedger may offer optional AI-assisted features, including portfolio commentary, risk summaries, strategy discussions, and screenshot-based draft trade extraction. AI outputs can be incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, biased, or unsuitable for your circumstances. You must review AI outputs before using them.

GammaLedger does not provide automated trading, discretionary account management, signal services, copy trading, or order execution. AI features are not authorized to place trades, route orders, connect to your brokerage account for execution, or act on your behalf.

If you configure a third-party AI provider, such as a Gemini-compatible API, prompts, portfolio snapshots, chat history, screenshots, and related metadata may be transmitted from your device to that provider. Your use of those features is subject to the provider's terms, privacy policy, security practices, data retention rules, and usage limits.

6. Local Storage, Backups, and Credentials

GammaLedger is designed to store trading data locally in your browser or in files you choose to import or export. Local storage can be deleted, corrupted, reset by browser settings, exposed by malware, lost when devices fail, or included in backups and sync tools you control.

You are solely responsible for backing up your data, protecting your device, protecting exported files, securing API keys, reviewing browser permissions, and deciding whether to store any financial, personal, or confidential information in the Services.

Optional API keys may be stored locally and may be encrypted when browser cryptography is available. Browser-based encryption is not a substitute for endpoint security, device encryption, strong passwords, secure backup practices, or provider-side account controls.

7. Third-Party Services, Data, and APIs

The Services may link to, interoperate with, or display information from third-party services, including broker exports, market data providers, AI providers, GitHub, hosting providers, and documentation resources. GammaLedger does not control and is not responsible for third-party availability, accuracy, licensing, security, privacy, fees, rate limits, or terms.

Market prices, news, analyst data, fundamentals, AI responses, imported broker data, and other third-party information may be delayed, incomplete, misparsed, misclassified, unavailable, or wrong. You are responsible for complying with all third-party terms and confirming information with official broker, exchange, clearing, tax, and regulatory sources.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Services or assist others in doing so. You must not:

• Use the Services in violation of laws, regulations, sanctions, exchange rules, broker rules, data licenses, or third-party terms.
• Use the Services to provide regulated investment advice, brokerage, account management, signal, auto-trading, or copy-trading services unless you are properly authorized and solely responsible for compliance.
• Misrepresent GammaLedger as registered, regulated, endorsed, sponsored, or affiliated with any broker, exchange, regulator, data provider, AI provider, or financial institution.
• Upload, store, or share information you do not have the right to use, including confidential broker data, personal data, account data, API credentials, or third-party market data.
• Introduce malware, bypass security controls, scrape, overload, interfere with, or attempt unauthorized access to any system.
• Remove legal notices, risk warnings, attribution, copyright notices, license notices, or source-code availability notices required by applicable licenses.

9. Changes, Availability, and Support

The Services may be experimental and may change, break, produce unexpected results, or become unavailable at any time. We may modify, suspend, discontinue, or remove any feature or content without notice. Unless expressly agreed in writing, we have no obligation to provide support, maintenance, updates, security patches, backups, hosting, compatibility, or continued access.

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services and all content, code, data, analytics, AI outputs, documentation, and integrations are provided "as is" and "as available," with all faults and without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.

We disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability, security, uninterrupted operation, error-free operation, regulatory compliance, tax compliance, profitability, trading performance, and suitability for any user or purpose.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GammaLedger, its maintainers, contributors, licensors, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or similar damages, or for trading losses, investment losses, missed opportunities, lost profits, lost revenue, data loss, business interruption, account losses, tax penalties, regulatory consequences, reputational harm, or loss of goodwill arising out of or related to the Services.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability will be limited to the greater of USD $100 or the amount you paid directly to GammaLedger for the specific Service giving rise to the claim during the six months before the claim arose.

12. Your Responsibility and Indemnity

You are responsible for your use of the Services, your trading activity, your data, your credentials, your compliance obligations, and any decisions you make. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GammaLedger, its maintainers, contributors, licensors, and affiliates from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your use of the Services, your data, your breach of these Terms, your violation of law or third-party rights, or your trading, tax, regulatory, or professional obligations.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to hosted portions of the Services, project resources, communities, or support channels at any time if we believe your use violates these Terms, creates risk, or is otherwise inappropriate. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including license terms, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, and dispute provisions.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

Unless a separate written agreement states otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the primary GammaLedger maintainer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a formal claim, you agree to try to resolve disputes informally by contacting us through the project repository. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date indicates when this page was last changed. Continued use of the Services after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
